Episode 161 - What If This Is as Healthy as My Body Gets? Blood Sugar, Body Composition & Finding Your Set Point

Finding Your Set Point For Your Body's Health

Episode 161 Show Notes

What happens when you’re doing all the “right” things for your health, but your body isn’t responding the way you expected? For many women, especially in their 40s, changes in hormones, blood sugar, and body composition can make reaching fitness goals more complicated than simply adjusting nutrition or exercising harder.

In this episode of Strong Like a Mother, Tiffany gets personal about her ongoing struggle with blood sugar regulation, her recent blood work, and her efforts to understand how genetics, hormones, and other factors influence her body. After trying a variety of approaches to improve her blood sugar, Tiffany reflects on a bigger question: What if some aspects of our bodies can’t be changed as much as we’d like—and how do we learn to be at peace with that?

Tiffany explains why she believes regular blood work is an important part of understanding your health, particularly when you feel like you’re doing everything right but aren’t seeing the changes you hoped for. She also discusses how hormones like testosterone and DHEA can affect energy and muscle-building, and why looking at the body as a connected system matters more than focusing on one number or measurement.

Most importantly, this conversation is a reminder to shift the focus from “look maxing” to “life maxing.” Rather than chasing someone else’s body or an idealized version of yourself, Tiffany encourages women to prioritize their health, understand their individual starting points, and work toward becoming the strongest, healthiest versions of themselves.

If you’ve ever felt frustrated because your body isn’t changing despite your best efforts, this episode offers a thoughtful perspective on getting curious about your health, knowing when to reassess your approach, and recognizing that your best may look different from someone else’s—and that’s okay.
